Orthopaedic physical therapy is the assessment and treatment of individuals with musculoskeletal injuries and/or conditions.

Orthopaedic physical therapy is the assessment and treatment of individuals with musculoskeletal injuries and/or conditions.  Treatment includes education and instruction in postural changes, injury specific exercise, manual techniques and modalities as needed.

Individuals who benefit from orthopaedic physical therapy include those with:

  • neck and back pain related to herniated disc(s)
  • degenerative disc disease
  • spondylosis (arthritis)
  • spondylolisthesis
  • radicular (nerve) pain/sciatica
  • stenosis
  • scoliosis
  • trauma/accident
  • whiplash
  • overuse injury
  • post operative pain
  • headaches

Individuals with extremity symptoms due to:

  • osteoarthritis
  • rotator cuff impingement/tear
  • adhesive capsulitis
  • cartilage injuries
  • ligament injuries
  • meniscus injuries
  • bursitis
  • tendonitis/tendinosis
  • tennis/golfer’s elbow
  • post operative pain
  • joint instability

Individuals injured on the job and managed under worker’s compensation to differentiate true mechanical pain appropriate for physical therapy care versus fear avoidance behaviors and non-organic signs.
