What type of treatment do you provide?
For a listing of treatments provided see our Services page.

Who is appropriate for Physical Therapy?
Individuals who commonly benefit from physical therapy include those who have had discomfort or pain that developed for no apparent reason and who might describe “it hurts when I do this…”  Some who have a loss of motion or limitations with functional, that is, every day activities also can find relief with our services.  Those who have recently been injured and whose symptoms aren’t going away in spite of rest and medicine potentially need advice and instruction in a pain relieving and movement or function restoring program that we can provide.

What to expect from a physical therapy session?
You should expect to discuss and explain your situation through the history taking, answering specific questions related to your problem.  Specific questions include where, exactly, are your symptoms?; are they constant or do they come and go?; what positions or movements make them worse or better?; and how long have they been present?

You will be asked to perform movements through a physical exam and repeat them to better understand your condition and what your problem needs.  You will be instructed in a home program involving posture changes and exercises and you will be informed as to appropriate and inappropriate responses that your body will give to clarify whether to continue with that activity or not.  This will serve to protect your condition from being worsened by the movement testing.

Just as important, you should expect a warm reception and sincere individuals, truly interested in you getting better and accomplishing the relief of pain and a return to full function.

What should I expect on my first visit?
First, we will need proper information including demographics and updated insurance information.  This information may be filled out at the clinic or by our website under the patient tab. Time is always of essence so we would greatly appreciate paper work being done before you arrive.  If you cannot access the information through our website, please feel free to call 901-522-MOR1 (6671) and we will gladly mail or fax the information to you.   Also, we ask all new patients to fill out a pain questionnaire to better understand their condition and to give us a means to monitor progress.  After the paper work has been completed, one of our therapists will go through a thorough assessment process to determine appropriate plan of care for your condition.  We feel this is vital given every patient is a unique individual with a different response to care depending on their current condition.

What do I need to wear?
Wear comfortable and loose fitting clothes that will enable your therapist to properly exam the part of your body you are being treated for.  At times your therapist may need to expose the part of your body being treated by using a gown to further determine the extent of your condition and/or provide the needed treatment.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring your insurance card and information to complete general demographic information paper work prior to your appointment time.  To save time you are welcomed, and encouraged, to complete the paper work by printing off our new patient forms available on this website by clicking on the “Patient” page.  In addition, feel free to complete the pain questionnaire that applies to your condition.

Also, please bring a positive attitude and a readiness to actively participate in your recovery.

Do I need a doctors referral?
No, in July of 2007 the state of Tennessee voted to permit direct access to physical therapy.  See provisions.
